Project 3

Module 3

In this module I finalized the final design of my prototype.

Workshop 1

After assigning our roles, we all make different components of our app out of cardboars. This is another view of us working on our cardboard prototype These are some screens we added after our first round of testing. This was what our transfer money screen looked like before we shortened it and made it easier to hold. This is the final video of us conducting a usability test on our app through bodystorming.

Activity 1: My Research

I originaly wanted to use four soil moisture sensors to test adding multiple plants to my app but I had to shorten it to two. I created variables for each individual plant so that the code would communicate with my variables in ProtoPie. I also made them into components so that the data would transfer across screens. Once all my plants were added to the app I tested the functionality of the thirst levels by dipping the sensors in an out of water to ensure the data was changing with it. I also tested the functionality of the light sensor by covering it with my hand to ensure the data was changing on the screen with this. I connected all of my plants in real life to my arduino and was able to see their data on the app I created. I was able to add multiple plants to my app which means my testing was successful.

Activity 2: My Research

I added an interaction so that when you click on the text field a name will appear. I also made it so a dropdown appears on plant type. This is the plant type dropdown and when you select the plant type it will appear in the text field. This is my plant health screen. I connected it with the same info that is displayed on the homepage. I edited this page so that the percentage and gauge would change depending on the plants overall health. The overall health uses the same logic as what decides when the plants face changes because it takes both sun and thirst and gives a wellness score based on that. These are all 3 of my plants I had connected with their health pages.

Additional Research or Workshops

I created a user flow diagram to visualize the interactions on my app. I designed my wireframes in Figma based on the colour scheme from my research on WGSN. I got inspiration for my plant health page from Dribbble.

Project 3 Final Prototype

My final prototype is a fun and cute plant health app that allows the user to monitor how much water and sun their plants are getting.
